Newport Mesa Family Resource Center (NMFRC)

The NMFRC is a family friendly community based collaborative with the capacity to provide on-site access to comprehensive prevention and treatment services. NMFRC provides social, educational, health and supportive services for all families including birth, blended, kinship, adoptive, and foster families for residents of Costa Mesa. Partner agencies include:

Programs and services at the Newport Mesa Family Resource Center are funded in part through Families and Communities Together (FaCT). FaCT is a program administered by the County of Orange Social Services Agency,in partnership with the FaCT Coalition of Charitable Ventures of Orange County, The Olin Group, and the Orange County Alliance for Children and Families.

Costa Mesa Family Resource Center Services

Family Support Services: Individualized case management services that support, empower and strengthen families by providing information, referrals and education on accessing community resources and services.

Information & Referral Service: Assistance in locating resources such as health care, childcare, legal aid, housing, educational classes, food and emergency needs.

Individual & Family Counseling: Therapy for but not limited to: crisis counseling, independent living skills, self-control, cycle of abuse and victimization modifying dysfunctional behaviors.

Out of School Time Youth Programs: Quality afterschool program for school aged youth focusing on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) education, leadership development, early literacy, academic support and enrichment activities. Classes will begin in September.

Parenting Educational Classes: Series of classes for parents with topics such as: logical consequences, modeling appropriate behavior, self-control during stressful situations, communication skills.

Personal Empowerment Program (PEP): Personal Empowerment Program for victims of domestic violence to provide support and education to end cycle of abuse.

Free Developmental Screening Opportunity: Play and Learn With Your Child Date: By appointment only. Detail: CMFRC and Help Me Grow are working together to help you screen your child’s development. ASQ-3 is a set of questionnaires about children’s development, ages 1 month to 5 1/2 years. The questionnaire evaluates your child’s development in areas such as speech, physical ability, social skills and problem-solving skills.

UCLA’s Family Overcoming Under Stress (FOCUS) resiliency Program

  • In six to eight weeks, you will gain concrete skills to improve communication, manage difficulties emotions, increase problem solving, and strengthen relationships.

Confidential Counseling

  • We offer short term therapy for children and families. We can also help you connect with support services in your area. You’ll be able to talk through your particular challenge with a professional in a confidential setting.

Youth Advisory Council (English) Date: Select Wednesdays Time: 6 – 7:15 p.m. Detail: Are you interested in making a difference in your community? The Costa Mesa Family Resource Center is seeking dedicated, enthusiastic and motivated teens to join the Youth Advisory Council. Members will advise the facilitators on concerns and interests of youth and teens in the Costa Mesa Community. YAC members will assist in planning special events, participating in safe date workshops, earning service hours and much more!

Requirements include:

  • Currently attending high school

  • Attend meetings once a month

  • Attend Safe Date workshops(provided by the Family Resource Center)

  • Report and Advise facilitators on youth-relate concerns

Para ayudar a evaluar el desarrollo de los niño/a. ASQ-3 es una serie de preguntas sobre el desarrollo de niños entre edades de 1 mes a 5 años y medio. Este cuestionario es utilizado para asegurar que los niños estén desarrollándose bien. El cuestionario ayuda a examinar si los niños se están desarrollando en áreas importantes como el habla, las capacidades fuertes de su hijo/a, al igual que áreas en cuales su hijo/s puede necesitar más apoyo.

El Costa Mesa Family Resource Center está buscando jóvenes dedicados y motivados para inscribirse al grupo de Consejo Consultivo de la Juventud.
