Nathan L. Colon

About Dr Nathan L. Colon

Bio

Dr. Nathan Colon is a Society of Urologic Oncology fellowship trained urologic oncologist with expertise in minimally invasive robotic surgery, endoscopic surgery, complex open abdominal surgery and retroperitoneal surgery. He earned his medical degree from Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where he received the Gross Anatomy and Embryology Scholar Award in recognition of his deep understanding of human anatomy and meticulous surgical technique. Dr. Colon completed his general surgery internship and urologic surgery residency at the University of Washington in Seattle. During his training, he worked closely with leading urologic surgeons, including his mentor Dr. Daniel Lin, Chair of the Department of Urology and President of the Society of Urologic Oncology, who inspired him to pursue subspecialty training in urologic oncology. He then completed the Society of Urologic Oncology fellowship at Washington University in St. Louis. While there, he was part of a multidisciplinary team managing complex urologic cancer cases across a multistate region. He refined his surgical skills under several prominent surgeons, including Dr. Sam Bhayani, a nationally recognized leader in robotic surgery and innovator in techniques for the treatment of prostate and kidney tumors. Dr. Colon’s research interests focus on the biology of urologic cancers and the application of precision oncology. He is a strong advocate for incorporating liquid biopsy technologies and biomarkers into clinical care. He believes these tools hold great promise for early cancer detection, monitoring of molecular residual disease, and personalizing cancer treatment. Dr. Colon is dedicated to providing patients with exceptional surgical care, with a focus on precision, safety, and compassion. Outside of medicine, he enjoys spending time with his wife and children, reading, playing golf, weightlifting, and cooking.
