Patrick S. Giesemann

About Dr Patrick S. Giesemann

Bio

Dr. Giesemann was inspired to pursue medicine during his service in the Army after high school. Originally planning to become an engineer like his father, his parents’ struggles with severe chronic illnesses and the care they received motivated him to switch paths. While serving in the Army, he trained as a medic and emergency medical technician, gaining valuable experience. Helping others has remained the driving force behind his career. He began residency in general surgery but shifted to family medicine after realizing the importance of managing chronic health problems early to improve patients’ long-term outcomes. Throughout his residency, Dr. Giesemann became increasingly aware of the unique challenges faced by older adults and people with multiple health conditions. This inspired him to pursue a fellowship in geriatric medicine, caring for patients in outpatient, hospital, and palliative settings, and leading team-based clinics for dementia and frailty. Dr. Giesemann believes in listening closely to patients and caregivers and coordinating care that supports their goals. Dr. Giesemann earned his medical degree from Albany Medical College and completed his residency in family medicine at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center in Torrance, California. Additionally, he finished a geriatric medicine fellowship at the VA-UCLA in Los Angeles. Outside of work, Dr. Giesemann enjoys spending time outdoors in Orange County with his family and dog, biking, swimming, cooking, and playing chess and cards. His career includes leadership roles in the Department of Veterans Affairs and the US State Department, where he ensured healthcare for embassy staff worldwide. Now, he is focused on serving the Orange County community, working alongside local care teams to help older adults live healthy, fulfilling lives.
